Definitely needs to be strapped into studs for support.
This was easy to assemble. English was not a first language for anyone who wrote the instructions, but that does not impede understanding. The holes were where they needed to be, and the hardware fit in there well and tightened easily. I think you could successfully do this with the Allen wrench provided; however, I chose to use a little ratchet with changeable bits, and easily found one that fit. The precautions were a bit over the top. I found it unnecessary to wear goggles and protective gloves, and keeping bystanders away was not gonna happen, because cats. I have to say I appreciate their concern for our safety, and also thought it was funny Figuring out how to stabilize it on a wall is going to be a little complicated because the top bench sits further back than the other layers. It seems to me that I have seen cat trees that are stable enough to stand alone. This one will not. The top jingle ball is so situated that a few good tugs could pull it over. Meanwhile, I have it secured against the wall between a bookcase and a heavy cabinet. It doesn’t feel like a permanent location, but I know the cats will be safe while they explore it and will I figure out a better location. Overall, I think it’s very nice quality. It’s made of pressboard, but a very sturdy pressboard. It does not have a strong chemical smell. My only critique would be that one of the sets of legs are shorter than the others, resulting in a shelf space that I don’t think is gonna get much traction because it’s not tall enough for the cats to walk in. Right now, they are curious and seem to approve. I will update if things are not as they appear, or if I have any useful information to share.
